BAFI: The Project Proponent

The Mind Museum is the initiative of Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization, supported by the contributions of property owners in BGC. Below is the profile of the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc.(BAFI).
Overview
The Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. (BAFI) was established by Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC), developer of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to provide an exciting arts program and create an environment of constant artistic renewal for current and future residents.

Board of Trustees
BAFI, a non-stock, non-profit organization, is supported by the contributions of property owners in Bonifacio Global City. Its Board of Trustees consists of Mr. Joselito D. Campos, Jr. as Chair, Mr. Fernando Zobel de Ayala as Vice Chair, Mr. Jaime I. Ayala as President, with Ms. Aileen An R. Zosa, Mr. Mariano John L. Tan, Mr. Edgardo Cruz, Jr., Mr. Vincent Y. Tan, Ms. Victoria P. Garchitorena, and Mr. Carlos S. Rufino.

Public Art
BGC has a Public Art Program managed by BAFI and funded by all lot buyers and owners in BGC. The program is aimed to enhance BGC’s aesthetic quality and give it a distinct character and style. The extraordinary art pieces that can be found all over the city and Bonifacio High Street are part of BAFI’s drive to heighten artistic awareness and appreciation among the public. A drive through the city streets reveals prominently displayed art works, which are as varied as the passion of the artists who made them.

The Lobby. The lobby will serve as a welcoming area for the guests of The Mind Museum. The lobby will be a visual exhibition itself since it will have a sprinkling of light that speaks of our cosmic beginnings. On occasion, the lobby will serve as venue for prestigious events and functions for The Mind Museum's select partners and friends.

The Exhibition Concept. The exhibition spans the entire range of nature's elements, glenaed from the galleries namely, Atom, Earth, Life, Technology, Universe. Later on I will discuss each of the galleries mentioned. :)

The Main Corridor. It will be a venue to exhibit the 10 most beautiful experiments which will be shown on LCD screens encased in silver metal columns. Truly, this is a "must-pass" corridor.

The Meeting Rooms. The meeting roms will be a learning venue. It will be a perfect place for for lectures, forums, and workshops. It will be located in the second floor, right beside the theatre.

Science-in-the-Park. Just when you thought your science journey is limited only within the facility, take a few steps outside and there you'll discover a different world where you can learn and play. The Science-in-the-Park is an 800 square meter outdoor park which carries the theme Nature's Artful Play. The Park will be a platform to highlight nature. Aside from the trees, plants, and flowers, it will also feature exhibits like the water pocket, math pocket, musical pocket, and a solar pocket.

interview with ms. celine santillan

this site has not been updated lately, so there's so much to catch up to.
to begin with, last summer i had the chance to really get to know my brand through a personal interview with ms. celine a. santillan, resource development manager. (thanks ms. celine! :D)

a photo with ms. celine santillan
ms celine was so accommodating, she showed me the powerpoint presentation for the mind museum, and even gave me a soft copy of it afterwards.
looking at the presentation, i saw how well they planned the mind museum. there are five galleries (which is the main attraction of the museum), stan (the first complete, life-sixe t-rex in our country), a science in the park, visually stunning digital video displays, a stunning building design, the concept of a 'green' museum, a well planned site, among other features. but i guess the most important thing about this project is that it is a product of the filipinos for the filipinos. the mind museum will welcome students from both public and private schools nationwide to provide a venue for them to learn things beyond what they read in textbooks and what are taught to them in school. the mind museum is a place where they can expect fun learning, in a world-class manner
below are some of the actual renderings of the mind museum taken from http://goodnewspilipinas.com/wp/?p=2352.

the mind museum's official website can now be accessed at http://themindmuseum.org/ there's an 8-minute video that talks about the mind museum, including messages from the project's proponent-the ayalas and museum curator ma.isabel garcia.

my first

Welcome to my personal blogsite mainly dedicated for my thesis, a total ad campaign for the Mind Museum.

First things first. My name is Geraldine Serrana and I am an incoming fourth year Advertising Arts student at the University of Santo Tomas. As a part of our requirements for the coming academic year, I will be doing a total ad campaign as my thesis. In line with this, I created this blogsite where I can share to everyone my personal learnings on the said topic.

On that note, I believe not everyone knows about the Mind Museum just yet. So for starters, let me share to you a brief description about it as lifted from the article “New Learning Spaces” by Joy Angelica Subido from the Philippine Star last April 20, 2008. The Mind Museum is the new exciting project by the Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) that will rise at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC). It will be the first world-class science museum in the country as it will feature highly interactive, technology-based gadgets and facilities that are expected to make science learning fun and exciting for the kids and kids at heart. Moreover, experts from the academe, arts and corporate world will make up the Exhibit Advisory Council, so that gives us an idea of what to expect from this project. Construction of the one billion peso-facility will start next year, with 2010 as the targeted date of completion.

Sounds exciting to me as I have been a fan of science since I was a kid. Growing up, my parents bought us (me and my sister) science books. Basically, after the fairy tale books-stage, our parents started to buy us informative books, so that’s how I was introduced to the subject. Lucky for me, my parents thought of investing on books early on so I have some references for this thesis by now.:) Although I didn’t pursue a career in science, my interest in the subject continues as it goes along with constant exposure. My sister is a biologist by profession so there’s always a discussion concerning the field, which I find very informative on my part since I haven’t been reading as much science books since I left high school.

Upon reading the article, I knew it would be a very interesting topic for thesis as it is something new given the fact that such facility is the first of its kind in our country. Thanks to my thesis adviser, Sir Gil Velez for introducing me to the topic. He was actually the one who gave the suggestion of reading the article in case I’m interested in making a campaign about it.

So that is how my campaign was born. Right now I’m in the process of nurturing it through research. I will be posting some of those in my coming entries.

Keep you guys updated,
Ging :)
